Gardenia is one of the hardest of all scents to capture, and Roja Dove has bottled its creamy, narcotic, and sensual beauty in all its majesty. With Gardenia, Roja set out to reproduce the intoxicating aroma of real gardenias. The scent of this flower is near impossible to reproduce in perfumery due to the difficulty of extraction, but Roja’s Gardenia is therefore a clever reconstruction of the complex aroma of real gardenias using other materials. Jasmine and tuberose supply a similarly clotted-cream texture, mimosa and cedar mimic its strange, almost fungal earthiness, and peach and cloves provide that spiced, chewy fruitiness of the more tropical species of gardenia, particularly that of tiare.
